“Hello, my name is Conchita. I live in Tecate, Baja California, México in a community called Cerro Azul (Blue Mountain). I live with my husband Javier and my four children. We are all serving in a Christian comunity in our area. We face several challenges in our day to day because of the condition of the mountain that we live on. We have to pick up water from a well in a tank that we mounted on a truck in order to have water for daily household needs. Since we don’t have running water, we take the water from the tank out in buckets to take showers, wash dishes, fill our washing machine, among other things. We also have to run a generator to make our washing machine work because we run our electricity from very far away and the voltage that we get is very weak. The road that we use to come up the mountain is in very poor condition, especially during raining season and that causes lots of mechanical problems to our vehicles.

A regular job here, typically pays $150-200 dollars a week but that amount is only good for groceries. Other expenses like medical, dental, home maintenance and others have to be put on hold and when it’s an emergency we cut back on groceries and other needs like personal items. The cost of regular household items have gone up really high in the past few months and wages stay the same. Also gasoline and propane prices (which we need to keep the house warm during the winter) are very expensive.

Regardless of all these challenges we are proud to be taking part in the construction of our new church plant. We are currently renting a space for $200 dollars a month but our numbers have grown and we are building a bigger church because our visión is to reach many more souls for Jesús Christ’s kingdom. We recently laid out the concrete slab and currently are working on finishing the restrooms, also we are saving up to put up the roof. God is good!

As you can see, there are endless, intricate issues that each person, family and community faces. We serve a God who is well aware of those issues and we are honored to be His vessel to reach them.
